Minister's Message

Dear friends,

The Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, with the broad range of economic activity that falls under its competence, is at the frontline of our joined efforts for sustainable growth. From the diligent management of the complex hydrocarbons and energy sectors to our targeted work for modernizing commerce, industry and the Registrar of Companies, we are faced with many challenges and have set ambitious and multifaceted goals.

Certainly, in tackling challenges, opportunities always arise; and to best take advantage of such opportunities, careful planning, collective effort and hard work, are essential. Our aim is to combine these with the necessary dialogue and cooperation, with all social partners, in order for our Ministry to be further established as the first and main point of contact for all areas under its competency, providing Cypriot companies with the tools needed to succeed and be competitive, both within Cyprus and abroad.

The list of critical issues we are called upon to manage, include:

  • Upgrading our country’s energy policy, having prioritised the transition to green energy and the optimal utilisation of hydrocarbons in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Republic of Cyprus.
  • Developing, modernising and greening our industry.
  • Enhancing commerce by providing targeted support to Cypriot businesses.
  • Strengthening Cyprus’ role as an international business centre and efficiently promoting Cypriot products and services abroad.
  • Enhancing entrepreneurship and actively supporting small and medium-sized businesses.
  • Modernising the Registrar of Companies and implementing the Insolvency Framework.
  • Providing support and protection to consumers and strengthening the tools available to them.
  • Reviving our traditional folk art and working for its gradual evolution into modern handicraft.

With these few words, I welcome you to the website of the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry and invite you to send us your comments and suggestions for improving and upgrading the services provided.
